011: Flowers for Lynn Cheng

flower.jpg

For Lynn Cheng, who requested a flower for NYSL Investiture. Sorry dear, was unable to get a new flower painted soon enough. Although this is old work I dedicate this painting to YOU!

Reference picture used. It’s from a book about watercolouring technique. I will add in the credits when I find the book in the library again. Meanwhile, if anybody knows who did the original painting, please do tell me. Thankyou

I think this is nice! :D I think you have very well controlled the brush and the way the water comes out! (like, theres not too much watercolour for the light parts)

Oh and I borrowed the book before too! I can recognise the flower because that was probably the only art book I ever borrowed, and because the flower is in half! (right right? Unless I’m talking about a different book)
Can’t remember what it’s called either, heh.

:D Thanks huikin, lynn and weining! The lighter parts took a long time for me to do. I had to use many layer of water and very light paint to get the effect (although it might not really show >.<) One petal is about 3 to 4 layers? yea.

I think we are talking about the same book huikin? Yes? The cover is a pink coloured daisy if I’m not wrong…

HEY, really like the flower. Thx for ur sugggestion the other time! back to the flower, Its really well done considering that you used water colour. Cos the hardest part, i think, of using water colour is control! control! control! I don’t see any mistakes that i could have made: like using too much water and thus when it drys, you can see a circle or ring or something, i don’t what it is called. but those are really annoying. Yar, so gd job! it looks so clean and refreshing!

  6. [...] in watercolour around the same time as this piece. I admit that most of my time was spent on the petals, and so the center of the flower is not as good [...]
